The above describes what was happening in Syria and Iraq. Below are numbers relating to World War II.

The greatest injustice of the 20th century. Amazing that these numbers have not been written about more. When you think that the Nazi death squads alone Einsatzgruppen and related auxiliary troops killed more than two million people. To get original military primary source you have to go to government repositories. easier than you think.

Little squares gives me a better sense of the numbers than just bars.

not great info but part of the deadline coverage. and wanted to add vector art. Train enthusiasts are a reliable source of details.
This was built by Youyou Zhou from info i gave her

all built from scratch wrapping nasa maps around globes.

I wrapped NASA images around a globe in a 3D program.

I created the above charts and maps using data that is freely and easily available on the CDC site.

The above was created with permission from  IHS Conflict Monitor.
the routes were copied from the International organization for migration. faint gray circles shows reported deaths. the red text below is just dummy text while I was adding interactivity.

again my maps with each black dot represents a home abandoned because of violence. Movement
of refugees is a good indication of violence.

unfortunately i don't do much animation anymore. these three were done in Cinema 4D.

This map created with a paid service maps4news, below was generated with permission  from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, of the camps for persecuted peoples only in countries ALLIED to the Nazi authorities. Not camps within Nazi occupied lands.

zoom in. Click on dot in the orginal link for details.

The reform of the British Post office in letters and documents

I took all these images myself of stuff I owned then.  Rowland Hill designed a fast rotary printing machine for printing newspapers in 1835. which made use of large paper rolls. with the idea that the stamp tax be impressed during the printing. The Lords of the Treasury turned down the idea. He was proud of his press. In her biography of her father, Eleanor Hill Smith writes (page 71) “my father has been a school master, a rotary printing press inventor and a member of the South Australian Commission before he took up the cause of postal reform.” This is the original printing for the patent (6762) with a 35-page description by Hill and nine large-format engravings. A search on the WorldCat catalog shows only two libraries worldwide with this item.         An autograph letter signed Charles Knight to Rowland Hill dated 1830, on publishing matters. You told me .. that you would be kind enough to look at the mathematical part of the enclosed proof. Hill cred...

shell collection (40 years in the making)

I realize now that this kind of shell collecting is destructive. Local divers come across a rare shell which they can make money and systematically search and collect (kill) them for sale. Eventually all are gone. I personally regret collecting. these of course are spondylus. I can take more detailed image if need be. basically what you see here is the entire collection except fossils. Pinnidae Xenophora Each box below contains unique species, all identified, Some duplicates I donated to the Smithsonian (they did not have examples) I have the letters to prove this. The collection started in the early 60s. . Name your price. This Tridacna gigas is 33 inches. there's also a separate pair (see below). What you see here is just the general stuff not my specialty collection . the three images above show Xenophora which was my speciality. In particular corrugata.  The one Macromphalus is damaged but there's another that's fine. Th...

Łódź Ghetto photographs

Re: Memory Unearthed: The Lodz Ghetto Photographs Of Henryk Ross. An exhibition underway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, New York. Ends June 24, 2018. Re: https://mjhnyc.org/exhibitions/memory-unearthed/ I was fortunate to listen to the curator Judith Cohen talk last week about the photographs of Jewish life under the Nazi occupation. An exhibition is underway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, New York. Ends June 24, 2018. The collection will then travel to xxx, xxx The artifacts themselves are extraordinary, however the real value is in their content. That content is not obvious to see. Without the captions, the pictures are often ordinary, maybe  little odd.  Those images in the exhibition familiar to us today were taken for German propaganda. They were deliberately edited or altered to misinform. Some were staged. Surviving testimony details the lengths taken to compose these. The intent was, of course, to hide the abuse, or, more overtly, to dehumanize Jewish ...
